1. Information we collect

• Profile and application data — information you add to your profile, cover letters, messages, and, for businesses, company details and contact information.
• Internship activity — the listings you post or apply to, interview and acceptance decisions, completion status and training progress.
• Technical data — information generated when you use the Platform, such as your IP address, which we use for security and abuse prevention.

2. How we use your information

We use your personal data to:

• Create and manage your account and provide the Platform's features.
• Enable interns and businesses to connect, apply, communicate and manage internships.
• Send you service communications, such as account, application and password-reset emails.
• Keep the Platform secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms.
• Improve and develop the Platform.

3. Legal bases for processing

Where UK data protection law applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Platform); our legitimate interests (to operate, secure and improve the Platform); your consent (where we ask for it); and compliance with our legal obligations.

4. When we share your information

We share personal data only as needed to run the Platform:

• With businesses when you apply to their opportunities — your application and relevant profile information is shared with the business you apply to.
• With service providers who process data on our behalf, such as our email delivery provider, under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection terms.
• Where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public or the Platform.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Data retention

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the Platform, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed we delete or anonymise it.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to data portability. You can exercise these rights by contacting us. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

7. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including hashing passwords and encrypting data in transit. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to respond appropriately to any incident.

8. Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in by storing your authentication token. This is necessary for the Platform to function. We do not use it to track you across other websites.

9. Age of users

Internship.Network is intended for young people aged 18 to 24. It is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you, and the “last updated” date above will change.
