Come Out Of Hiding – The Lighthouse Network CIC is a Christian-inspired, inclusive community organisation supporting children, young people, adults and families across South East London. We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic intern to gain practical experience supporting our community programmes and supervised on-site sessions. The intern will attend COOH sessions on Thursdays and Saturdays at our Southeast London venues. The placement may include experience across our adult community drop-in, family support, SGN Stay Warm and Safe programme, Let’s Get Messy children’s activities and STEPs youth leadership programme. Under the supervision of a COOH team member, the intern will help to: • Prepare rooms, resources and activity materials. • Welcome participants and support registration and attendance. • Assist facilitators during children’s, youth, adult and family activities. • Support refreshments, community food and Warm Pack activities. • Encourage participants to complete feedback forms. • Help maintain safe, welcoming and inclusive session spaces. • Support session close-down, basic administration and team debriefs. • Record learning and contribute ideas for improving future sessions. The intern will not work alone, provide clinical advice, manage safeguarding concerns independently or take sole responsibility for participants.
Requirements
• Availability to attend on-site sessions every Thursday and Saturday throughout the six-week placement. • Interest in community work, youth work, education, wellbeing or public health. • Friendly and respectful communication with children, young people, adults and families. • Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions. • Understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality. • Basic administration and digital skills. • Willingness to complete COOH’s induction and required safeguarding, Prevent, data-protection and health-and-safety training. • Willingness to undertake appropriate references and an Enhanced DBS check where the duties are eligible. • Previous community, youth or volunteering experience is helpful but not essential.
